NEO I SPOTLIGHT
Spring Time,
Sunscreen Time
Spring Time, Sunscreen Time
by Carolina Malis
Oh, sunscreen. If only I could write and ode to it. At this point anyone who knows me well knows I’m deeply obsessed with sunscreen, but hey, I have my reasons. If you ever told teenager Carolina to wear sunscreen everyday and re-apply at least 2 times a day she would have laughed so hard in your face, but today’s Carolina would basically marry you if you tell her you do so.
Back in the day I just didn’t understand why my skin was not reacting well to all these products that were supposed to get rid of my acne, my sensitivity, my scars and the fine lines forming around my eyes, and it wasn’t until I started learning about the effects UV rays have on our skin that I finally understood how it was all related. But when I try to convince my friends about the wonders of wearing sunscreen everyday I use to get the same answers: "But it's raining! Why should I use it?", or "But it's so uncomfortable and sticky". Well my friends, that's only because you're wearing the wrong ones, or in some cases body sunscreen on your face, which I try not to freak out about when I hear those words coming out from someone's mouth, but secretly I do.
Thankfully people seem to listen and agree more about the importance of sunscreen when Spring and Summer show up so I'm taking this opportunity now that the warmer days are ahead of us to try and get you as into sunscreen as I am.
On my sunscreen journey I've found many I like and many I dislike. I know, I'm a K-Beauty obsessed so you'd expect this coming from me, but I swear there's nothing like Korean and Japanese sunscreens. Every single time I've had an anti-sunscreen friend try one they end up liking it and changing their opinion about it (a personal victory I must say), and I have to admit, many of those times it's been Neogen's Dermalogy Day Light Protection Sunscreen that did the magic.
This Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates free physical sunscreen is not only super lightweight but it offers real protection (ehem , ehem, SPF 50 PA +++) to your skin while hydrating it thanks to the rose and raspberry extracts contained in it, which makes it a great catch for those who have dry skin. One of my favorite things about it? It absorbs really really fast and feels more like a second moisturizer than just a sunscreen. At the very beginning I wasn't much into the scent but it grew on me and now I really enjoy it (imagine a light mix of oranges and roses). Another huge pro? It's by far one of the sunscreens that layers best with my makeup giving me kind of like a primer effect.
The thing about every single Neogen product is that all of them will always be sensitive-skin friendly, so you can always expect calming and repairing effects from its products: this is not the exception. When I'm feeling my skin getting stressed, redness approaching or acne trying to takeover I always pick this sunscreen as my go-to.
What about you? Do you wear sunscreen everyday? If not just let me know and I assure you I'll get you into it.
