Super Hydra Aqua Capsule Mask Review by Elaine
by Elaine (maskepedia)
Neogen Super Hydra Aqua Capsule Mask claims to nourish skin and boost moisture levels. It comes with an ampoule capsule that requires breaking and mixing with the rest of the contents before use. Inside the capsule is nano-sized hyaluronic acid, which deeply hydrates the skin and retains twice the moisture of standard hyaluronic acid. Also included in the formula are ceramides and cholesterol that seamlessly absorb into skin and keep it plump and hydrated. The specially patented fabric allows this sheet mask to maximize ampoule absorption and goes on smoothly to fit the contours of your face. Free of mineral oil, parabens, and animal ingredients.

(Before masking)
My skin is feeling dehydrated and looking slightly flushed. I’ve cleansed, exfoliated, and toned my skin. Find out how I normally prep my skin for masking.
Instructions:
First, place your hands on the top of the sheet mask where the capsule is located. With light pressure, snap the capsule in half to release the essence into the sheet mask. Next, put the sheet mask on a flat surface and gently rub the top of the sheet mask, allowing the essence to spread evenly and helping the sheet mask absorb all the essence. Then, open the sheet mask, unfold it and smooth it onto face.
I was prepared to exert brte force accompanied by a couple of tennis player grunts but I was surprised by how easy it was to break the capsule. So being the curious cat, I cut open the packaging after I was done with the mask and found this:
This tampon-like plastic contraption is no cheap thing. It is made of sturdy plastic but what made it so easy to break is the catch in the middle. It is an actual resealable opening that snaps open and close. I had a good mind to rinse this out and reuse it. But being double-ended with the opening in the middle, I had no idea when or how to use it.
One thing I dislike about masks that require pre-mixing of ampoule is the inability to see if the ampoule has been evenly mixed in prior to usage. Plus, I don’t want to bear the responsibility if it didn’t work as it should. There are plenty of amazing masks that don’t require pre-mixing so I really don’t get why I should be doing the extra work. Hence, to minimize user error, I massaged it as best as I could for 10 mins and laid it flat for another 30 mins before using.
Upon opening the packet, I caught a pleasant white tea fragrance. Essence was gel-like and clear. The microfiber sheet mask felt thin and soft and came with a netted backing.
(During masking)
Fit was great! I was surprised to see how large the sheet was. It was long enough to cup my chin and cover the tops of my neck. There were also plenty of deep cuts for ease of manipulation and customized fit. I wished the eye and mouth holes were larger, they were bothering my senses just a tad bit.
Adherence was great as with all microfiber masks. It was very soft yet clingy, and seemed to cling on tighter as it got drier. There was zero air bubbles or lifts observed.
I took the mask off after 30 mins, it was still damp.
(After masking)
After patting and massaging in the abundance of leftover essence, I still had to wait 5-10 mins to let it dry down further. There was a moisturizing film sitting atop my skin, giving rise to a tacky greasy sensation. Finish looked very dewy.
My skin felt intensely hydrated and moisturized. There was absolutely no need for a moisturizer. This was not suitable for oily skin or hot days. Combo skin will need to wipe it down with a toner-soaked cotton pad to feel comfortable. Dry skin will really enjoy the intense moisturizing factor of this mask. Best for night use.
The redness in my skin seemed to have subsided, giving way to an even-toned complexion. Skin texture also looked and felt smooth as pores were blurred and fine lines plumped.
Below is a side by side comparison of the before and after pictures.
Aside from the need for extra work, small eye and mouth holes, and the slightly uncomfortable finish, I really liked this mask. However, it is not something I would use on a daily basis due to how intense it was. I’m reserving these for colder nights when my skin feels extra thirsty. Check out more Neogen reviews.
