Travel-friendly skincare for all your holiday trips
Travel-friendly skincare for all your holiday trips
By Carolina Malis
It's finally that time of the year: orange and yellow leaves, coats, boots, everything pumpkin, hot cocoa… and oh, oh… skin freaking out. Understanding what you skin needs during this weather transition (especially considering it's going from fall to winter in a second), can be really hard sometimes, but at the end of the day it always comes down to one thing: keep your skin hydrated.
Thing is new season not only brings new temperatures and a renovated coffee shop menu but also travel. Thanksgiving trips, christmas and new year's journeys, even winter-time vacation… there's lots of travel involved in the next few months but in terms of skincare things change a little. While in the summer I was ready to go on a trip while I had mists, moisturiser and sunscreen on my skincare bag (besides a few more steps obviously), for winter we need to make sure we carry with us products that will not only hydrate and nourish but also protect our skin from the low temperatures.
Something that can be really helpful is bringing with you products that will accomplish more than just one goal, that way you spend less time in front of the mirror and more enjoying your relax time with friends and family.
While it can get a little hard to pick and choose the skincare items that will make the cut - don't tell me you haven't spent more-than-socially-accepted time in front of your skincare cabinet trying to make the decision - Neogen has a few items that can make this whole thing way easier and I wanna share those with you! Here's some of my absolute favorites whenever I'm traveling:
*White Truffle Oil Stick: I've said it before but I'll repeat it as many times as it's necessary: my skin changed the day I realized oils were not the enemy. Nowadays, no matter the season, the weather or the time of the month, I just can't live without facial oils. Of course, some of them work better depending on temperature, season and skin conditions, but overall there's always at least one or two oils I use on the daily. One of my absolute favorite oils for every season is the Neogen White Truffle Serum in Drop Oil. It's just P-E-R-F-E-C-T for my skin. Unfortunately I cannot bring the bottle with me when I travel, but thankfully Neogen came up with a solution for that: the White truffle Laycure Oil Stick.
This super hydrating oil stick is formulated with white truffle oil - extremely rich in vitamin B - which repairs skin and helps with texture. Beside its nurturing and moisturizing perks, this formula protects your skin from environmental damage and the effects of stress, so truly a godsend for traveling time.
*Green Tea Cleansing Stick: cleansing is always important but when traveling you need to make sure your skin stays free of any waste, makeup traces, sweat or any other toxins even more than regular, as your skin is already under stress just because of the trip itself. To continue on the sticks path, Neogen Real Fresh Green Tea Cleansing Stick is a travel-friendly, all-in-one cleanser that's formulated with 13 - yes, thirteen! - different and gentle natural oils that can breakdown makeup and dirt, plus natural green tea leaves - which you can actually see on the stick - that help exfoliate your skin, all while keeping you its pH levels under control. Only thing you need to do is twist up, swipe over damp skin and then massage with your hands, to finally rinse off with lukewarm water and TADA! Clean, smooth and waste-free skin in a minute. While I still like to use a cleansing oil or makeup remover before going for this, I think it works great as a one-step cleanser for days when I'm not wearing any makeup.
*H2 Dermadeca Serum Spray: Finally, one of my absolute favorites - that I may or may not have forced many of my friends to buy. This serum in spray - yes, you read that right - is one of Neogen's most advanced creations in my opinion. A super fine serum mist that repairs, soothes and hydrates skin truly in matter of minutes. The formula contains such ingredients as niacinamide and vitamin C for brightening and anti-aging purposes, centella asiatica to calm redness, inflammation and acne, and collagen to give your skin that plump it can be missing, specially when traveling.
While I do use this products on a daily basis, I certainly can't live without them when on a trip. I still add a sheet mask or a creamy rinse off mask to the formula but these definitely have become staples on my travel bag. Do you have some favorite travel skincare essentials?
