The Mascara of our dreams exist! It's called Maxicara
By Carolina Malis
Throwback to 2008, I didn't wear makeup at all. I just thought it wasn't for me or that I looked weird, but it was just about me running into korean cosmetics to realize there was actually makeup lines for those of us who wanted something natural, simple and that somewhat involved skincare too. Flash forward to, well… right now, there's a bunch of lip tints, BB Cushions and mascaras right in front of me and somehow I feel like I don't have enough.
You know that feeling when you get a new piece of makeup? That joy that comes with a new red lipstick, a brand new foundation or eyeshadow palette? Well, that's how I felt the very first time I held the Maxicara in my hands, only the feeling remains until today and I feel it every single time I use it.
Let me tell you, this is by far the most sophisticated and high end piece of makeup I've ever had in my hands (and eyes). But before I start telling you about the wonders of this mascara, let's get a little scientific. Mascara is one of my favorite makeup staples. I can go foundation, lipstick and eyeshadow free but when I don't wear mascara I feel naked. A little mascara can change someone's look, do you agree with me? But mascara has a catch: it can get really naughty really fast. Until a few years ago I didn't know about the amount of bacteria and germs mascara brushes collect so I didn't care if I was using one that I had been using for more than a year, but now that I know more I don't let a mascara wand touch my eye if I've had it open for more than three months.
Our eyes are perhaps the ones you want to take the most precaution with when talking face care. Different from the skin in the rest of your body, our immune system is always a little weaker on the eye area, it's in a way always suppressed, AKA, way more vulnerable to infections. For the same reason mascara can be really harmful if not used properly: when you apply it first to the skin, bacteria will adhere to it and when it's then put back into the container, they will not only survive but they will grow, meaning every time you apply that mascara brush to your lashes, you are reinfecting yourself with your own bacteria. I know… gross.
But bless beauty technicians because they came up with something that could change that horror-movie like struggle forever. Meet (developed by NeogenLab). This innovative mascara uses a metal - yes, I said METAL - brush bristle to evenly coat your eyelashes strand by strand for an ultimate, long-lasting lift and all-day, doll-like lashes. But the real great news come now: You can actually wash the wand after every use. Yes, you read that right. It's like a dream come true, right? Not only it delivers perfectly curled lashes but it keeps them clean and bacteria-free. Can we get a round of applause here?
Not gonna lie, the price point can be a little high, but can you really put a price on your eyes health? This mascara not only feels lightweight and lasts up to 33 hours on your lashes but also will make sure you never get an eye infection. It's an absolute win if you ask me.
