NEO I TRENDING
New Season, New Cleanser, Real Fresh Foam Cranberry
New Season, New Cleanser - and please add cranberries to it
By Carolina Malis
A new season is in and not gonna lie, I'm very happy about it. Being able to finally wear sweaters, boots and coats, drink warm lattes and snuggle in bed are things that get me very excited, #noshame. But there's one thing I'd like to avoid during the weather transition and that's how freaked out my skin gets. I think I could be considered a skincare nerd, so whenever temperatures start going down or up I set an emergency routine to make sure my skin stays as healthy as I can keep it (of course that's not all in my hands so I still have to struggle).
One of the things I swap immediately when temperatures drop is my water-based cleanser. While during summer I tend to go for gel ones (which will get rid of excess sebum) for colder weather I tend to lookout for light-foam ones that will protect my skin's hydration levels. Now, there's lots to say about cleansers in the skincare community. The pH should be low, the pH should be high, some ingredients are good, some ingredients are bad, there should be no alcohol in them, there should be some kinds of alcohol in them… and a long, long list that could go on for years, but at the end of the day it's all about what works for you.
Have you ever tried a cleanser and feel that mummy-like effect afterwards, when you can barely speak because of how tight and dry your skin feels? In my opinion that the first sign a cleanser is not good for you. Just as drinking water, keeping our skin hydrated is a MUST if we want for it to stay healthy. As the largest organ, our skin contains approximately 64 percent water, helping retain all the moisture our body needs trapped inside. For that same reason it's super important that we do all that's in our hands to protect it and nourish it.
When skin cells get dehydrated, they will shrink and become brittle, which makes them more prone to toxins, bacteria and other outside invaders that can affect skin health. The result is uncomfortable, tight-feeling, flaky skin that is much more prone to a variety of skin concerns — including shedding, premature aging, and acne. That's why it's so important to pick a cleanser that's not only gonna get rid of dead skin cells and toxins but that's gonna help your skin stay hydrated.
Now, you've probably heard about Neogen foam cleanser before (or seen them at your nearest Sephora). But, what makes them such a great catch? This collection features a range of different fruits, cereals and ingredients that help improve your skin's condition and most importantly, keep it hydrated. The gentle foam effectively removes impurities such as sweat and dirt from the skin without stripping your skin's natural oils, a.k.a, BINGO! It's super lightweight and hydrating, which makes it the perfect water-based cleanser to use in your double-cleansing routine.
One of my absolute favorites is the Real Fresh Foam Cranberry. As you can imagine it contains real fermented cranberries - which you can actually see floating at the bottom of the bottle - and cranberry fruit water, which contains powerful antioxidants to prevent signs of premature aging and won't strip your skin of its natural oils. But that's not all! This cleanser is suitable for all and every skin type - but let me say, specially if you suffer from sensitive skin… Oh! the wonders it will do for you. It also contains fermented plant and fruit extracts, which produce extra enzymes and vitamins that will reinforce your skin's natural barrier.
If you're looking for a nice water-based cleanser for the new season I would absolutely recommend to start with this one. While the Green Tea and Cereal ones are also part of my routine I feel like the cranberry one is better to start off with, as it's really super gentle - and smells incredible. (Shop Now)
