Meet White Truffle Oil: your skin's superhero for Fall
Meet White Truffle Oil: your skin's superheroe for Fall
By Carolina Malis
There's many amazing moments throughout the year where I feel super joyful: thanksgiving, new years, christmas, but on top of all of them the happiest moment of the year for me is the day summer finally ends and fall starts. Is there really anything more magical than Fall? Back to the sweaters, orange trees, lattes, perfect temperature… but Oh, oh… transitional weather can play rough games with our skin.
Not gonna lie to you. There was a time in my life when I was totally against face oils in any form because I had the - very wrong - idea that if I had acne prone/oily skin, oils were not meant for me… Oh, Carolina-from-the-past, if you only knew at that time what you were missing out of. But one day my combo complexion surprised me with some dry patches and someone recommended for me to try facial oils at least on those spots. After that piece of advice my life - and skin - changed forever.
First off, this is something no one taught us about while growing up (or at least not me) and I feel like it's a must in order to understand our skin: All those overly stripping products made for Oily/Acne-Prone Skin that leave your face feeling like if you were a mummy are actually doing the opposite to what you want. In an attempt to get rid of excess oil you get rid of so much that it actually causes skin to produce more oil to compensate, creating a vicious cycle that never ever ends. Some oils can actually help balance your skin's oil production, get rid of excess sebum on your face and even minimize the appearance of pores. Big revelation, huh?
Once I learned that I realized I've been doing it all wrong for years, so I decided to make things right. The first oil I ever tried was camelia - which I still use by the way -, then I tried a few argan ones that I liked, but everything changed the day I tried White Truffle Oil. This super hydrating, nourishing and brightening ingredient rich in Vitamin B - that I had never tried before by the way - not only feels amazing on your skin and not oily at all if that's a concern of yours when talking oils, but also makes your skin look amazingly vibrant.
Good news? Neogen carries this amazing ingredient in two forms: a Serum-Oil drop and an oil stick (both very new for me). The former one comes in a very unique oil drop texture packed with luxe White Truffle, which protects skin through its moisture barrier while improving skin tone for a long-lasting dewy glowing skin. It has the moisturizing benefits of a serum and the hydrating/nourishing benefits of an oil so you pretty much get the best of both worlds.
Now, a good face oil should not only hydrate but also help balance your skin's oil production, and let me tell you, that's a great perk of this one thanks to Neogen's microfluidic dispersion technology - for the same reason it doesn't feel sticky after applying!
As for the oil stick it works wonders on dry, uneven, flaky and dull skin. Just a swipe of it on top of wrinkles, fine lines or dry patches and you'll see how its formula brigs moisture and energy back to your skin, protecting your complexion from environmental damage. I love to keep this one in my bag - that's another perk, it's pocket sized - and even use it as a primer during colder days.
While oils are not only meant for winter - I use mines during summer too - these ones in particular are great for those who suffer from flaky skin because of low temperatures. If you feel like oils are not your thing then maybe trying the Serum In Oil Drop is a good option as it really feels more like a serum than an oil. Do you regularly use oils in your routine?
