Do you remember when you were younger and got home late after a party and thought to yourself: “How bad can it really be if I go to bed with my makeup on?" to then fall into the arms of morpheus and wake up to racoon eyes. 14-year-old me played that trick many times, and oh, how I would like to go back in time and let her know she was gonna regret that decision in a few years.
Cleansing our faces every single day is not only about keeping our skin clean though. Removing dirt, oils and unwanted debris from our skin will protect it from growing bacteria, pollutants and viruses, AKA, all the nasty things that can cause acne, wrinkles, spots, inflammation and more skin struggles. In other words, a big NO-NO. Besides that, cleansing our skin is a must if we wanna keep it moisturized and hydrated. When our skin turns dehydrated that's when it looks dull, uneven and overall aged. When we take care of removing all the impurities we accumulate during the day we're helping our skin balance its pH levels so it stays healthy and hydrated at all times.
Regarding this matter, more than once I've gotten the question: “What can I do to make my pores close up?" The answer is very disappointing, because there's nothing you can actually do to accomplish that goal. Pores are not muscles, and for that reason they cannot open and close. What we can do though is keep them clean and away from residue so they're not filled up with it - which is what makes them look bigger in the first place.
Now that I scared you enough about the consequences of not cleansing your face everyday you must be wondering: but how do I pick the right one for me? I know, there's a whole sea of cleansers out there promising different results, but today I'm gonna talk to you about some I personally recommend on the daily because of how gentle yet powerful they are, all while keeping my skin hydrated, meaning no stripping involved.
