It’s time to cica-up your winter skincare routine
It’s time to cica-up your winter skincare routine
By Carolina Malis
Let’s face it, there are many things we love about winter, but skin dehydration is definitely not one of them. When our skin loses moisture not only becomes drier, but many other struggles start taking place too. Wrinkles, spots, dull and uneven complexion… there's a bigger chance to get any of those if your skin is not properly hydrated.
You’d think the most important steps on your skincare routine then are your oils and moisturizers, but actually, hydration starts at the very beginning, AKA, when you’re cleansing. No matter if your skin is oily, combo or dry side, our skin needs its natural oils and getting rid of them 100% is not a goal. You know how some cleansers leave your skin feeling tight and dry, almost like if you were a mummy? The skincare industry has taught us that feeling your skin like that after cleansing is a great sign, because “your skin being super clean and oil-free”, but oh, boy, that’s a total lie.
When washing our face we don’t want to get rid of all the oils in our face, just the excess of it, that’s why it’s SUPER important that your cleansers don’t dry and dehydrate your skin, AKA, no astringent propdicts and nothing that stripps down your skin from its natural oils, and this is when Neogen Real Cica Micellar line enters the game. The main ingredient on these is - as you can probably guess already - Cica, an ingredients with a huge list of skin benefits, but it is most well known for its healing, soothing, antibacterial, and inflammatory properties, meaning it is ideal for sensitised skin. It’s also great for conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, scarring, and cellulite, as it is incredibly moisturising.
Our recs? Here are two of our faves that we think are a great intro to the line:
Real Cica Cleansing Oil
The innovative formula in this cleansing oil contains micellar technology to remove even more impurities than a traditional oil cleanser. Its formula not only cleansers but it’s also hydrating so you get a nourishing treatment in one. Lightweight and non-sticky, it's formulated with micelles that sweep away unwanted particles and impurities, while hydrating Centella Asiatica Extract balances the skin's pH.
Real Cica Cleansing Foam
The perfect foaming cleanser for sensitive, dry skin that's prone to redness! This cleanser also includes cica, so it’s amazing for those with sensitive skin types and it perfectly removes away all skin impurities and makeup. Enriched skin soothing ingredients, Centella Asiatica extract and Madecassoside, get together in a formula with a moderate pH (5.5-6.5), which helps mildly finish to a dewy and smooth skin.
Do you think you’re ready to add Cica to your skincare routine? (A hint: the answer is yes!)
